How long does a background check take?
The timeline varies depending on the scope of the check. Standard background checks take between 3–10 working days. Complex or international verifications may take longer.
Do you require consent from the individual being verified?
Yes. In line with Kenya’s Data Protection Act, we require a signed consent form from the candidate before conducting any background checks.
Are your services compliant with data protection laws?
Absolutely. Semafacts Services Limited is a registered Data Processor with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, and we adhere strictly to data protection guidelines.
Can you verify certificates issued outside Kenya?
Yes. We are able to verify academic and professional certificates from international institutions through our global verification partners.
What happens if a candidate refuses to sign the consent form?
If a candidate declines to give consent, we cannot proceed with the verification process. We always advise clients to communicate the importance of background checks during the recruitment process.
